Tickets on sale for Urban Roots third annual Soil Palooza [Video]

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Urban Roots is hosting their third annual Soil Palooza event.

Abi Damp, development coordinator at Urban Roots, and Emily Fulstone, one of the speakers at next week’s event, stopped by Morning Break to invite the community to its annual fundraiser.

Soil Palooza takes place Saturday, August 24 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Urban Roots Teaching Farm (1700 E. Second Street, Reno). This family-friendly event will include farm-fresh pizza, cocktails, music, education stations around the farm, a panel discussion about food forests featuring local and regional gardening and agriculture experts in northern Nevada.

Every year, the event highlights regenerative growing practices through different themes. This year’s theme will focus on food forests and how to build one at any scale within the high desert climate. A food forest is a self-sustaining, multi-layered garden designed to mimic a natural forest ecosystem.
