HENDERSON, Ky. (WEVV) — Lucy Nash’s family describes her as an energetic fourth grader who was full of life until tragedy struck her last Wednesday. Since then, the community has shown an out pouring of support for her family.

Lucy Nash collapsed on the first day of school when her heart stopped beating.

Sarah Hopper, the owner of Coffee + Cream and a mother of a 10-year-old, knew she wanted to help somehow.

“As a mother, I can’t even imagine sending my child to school and having this tragedy,” says Hopper.

Friday, Coffee + Cream posted a Facebook post asking the community to donate items for Lucy Nash’s family.

Within three days, the community gave an overwhelming response.
