Suburban family organizes music festival to thank community for support after hit-and-run [Video]

WAUKEGAN, Ill. — A family in Waukegan hosted a music festival this weekend after community support helped their nephew recover from a horrific hit and run accident.

The family wants the festival to raise money to help others facing similar challenges.

Dan Sivia organized the festival.

“Three years ago my nephew was a victim of a hit and run accident in New Orleans,” he said.

He says his nephew Adam survived a horrific accident in 2021. Doctors had to amputate his legs to save his life. A mountain of medical bills and expenses followed.

“The people of Waukegan came out in droves for my family and my nephew,” Sivia said.

He said the family is forever grateful for the outpouring of donations from the public.

“Adam today, fast forward three years, is the National United States bilateral amputee power lifting champion having bench pressed 380 pounds, with no legs,” he said. “The idea of today …
