SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Jodi Schwan with SiouxFalls.Business visited to discuss a major renovation on the way for the Hilton Garden Inn downtown and some fun business developments in the works in Brandon.

A decade-old downtown hotel is getting a new name and a new look. The downtown Hilton Garden Inn will become The Catlin, which will be part of Hilton’s independent hotel group called Tapestry.

Catlin comes from the word catlinite, a type of rock that occurs between layers of Sioux quartzite. These hotels are meant to be just that – unique to the communities they’re in – and as part of this, essentially every area of this hotel will be remodeled.

That includes the 136 guest rooms, the banquet and meeting spaces and the lobby, which will be reconfigured and take on a new look, including adding a whiskey bar, shrinking the Starbucks some, expanding the fitness …
