Sioux Falls Police Department to open applications for new year of Career Cadets [Video]

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Career Cadets was launched in 2023 as a partnership between Southeast Technical College, The Sioux Falls Development Foundation and the City of Sioux Falls.

The program allows those interested in law enforcement and a chance at higher education to become involved as part-time employees for the police department.

The first class of cadets had three participants who helped with multiple divisions but mainly focused on community outreach events like Coffee with Cops and neighborhood spray parties. The cadets participated as role players in basic training exercises hosted in Sioux Falls. A current cadet will attend Camp Postcard this year.

To take part in Career Cadets, you must be at least 18 years old, have been accepted into Southeast Technical College and be pursuing an associate degree in law enforcement science.
