SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – On Saturday afternoon, hundreds of people attended a rally in Amherst that pushed for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza & Lebanon, days after Iran sent retaliatory missiles into Israel.
Demonstrators at the rally told us they want to send a message to politicians, to let them know that they don’t want any more of their tax dollars going to Israel.
“I have family in Lebanon right now having to flee their homes with no notice, and I’m here out with my community because frankly it is the only thing I can do at this point,” rally speaker Leyla told us.
Saturday’s rally in Amherst’s town common was filled with protestors who called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, a push that mirrors the student peace movement seen on college campuses across the world.
