One80 Place shifting gears on strategic plan to reduce homelessness [Video]

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Nonprofit One80 Place is reshaping its outlook on reducing homelessness across seven South Carolina counties.

The organization announced a new strategic plan that will guide its services over the next three years. They believe housing and outreach are two of the strongest solutions against community displacement.

“Finding people on the streets, living in encampments, living in cars. Make sure, while we are working very quickly to provide them with housing, that they have what they need to be safe where they are,” Chief Operating Officer Stacey Denaux says.

Denaux explains more people are becoming unhoused without balanced, long-term resources to help.

“Lots of apartments, other housing are being built. But the population at the lowest incomes, often housings, are left out of the conversation for affordable housing,” Denaux says. “We keep people safe knowing we don’t have enough housing readily available. We also don’t want to …
