Minds Matter owner wins Aberdeen Business Pitch Competition [Video]

ABERDEEN, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Two Aberdeen groups that promote business development in the community combined efforts to sponsor the inaugural Business Pitch Competition.

Business people have always had to make pitches — to get a location, a sales situation started or financing.

With that thought in mind, the Business Pitch Competition was put together by the Northern State University Innovation and Start Up Center along with the Aberdeen Development Corporation.

“It’s really kind of an evolution in the next step. We do a competition currently in Northern State University with a focus on students, but we always wanted to take it to really a community-wide stage,” said Mike Bockorny, CEO of the Aberdeen Development Corporation.

Contest organizers would have been pleased to get a dozen entries but got 23 that were pared down to four finalists to make their “pitch” for the $10,000 first prize. The winner is …
