Meet the Teacher: She brings creativity to Ypsilanti classrooms as an occupational therapist [Video]

WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – Having experience as both practitioner and patient, Morgan Filsinger is very familiar with therapy’s ability to change lives.

As an occupational therapist contracted through Pediatric Therapy Associates, Filsinger regularly works with children across six different Ypsilanti-area schools, including Ypsilanti Community middle and high schools, Achieving College & Career Education, the Washtenaw Educational Options Consortium and the Washtenaw International High School and Middle Academy. Ypsilanti Community Middle School represents the biggest portion of her caseload, Filsinger said.

As an OT, Filsinger works to ensure students throughout the district are able to keep up with the curriculum, often helping to develop learning plans for students facing difficulty in the classroom setting.

Shortly before she graduated Eastern Michigan University in 2022 with a masters degree in occupational therapy, Filsinger suffered a head injury in a major car crash, delaying her from getting her license so she could attend speech and occupational therapy herself.
