Howard Center opens its first urgent care in Chittenden County [Video]

On Monday afternoon, the Howard Center’s new Mental Health Urgent Care cut the ribbon on its new center and hosted an open house with tours of the space dedicated to mental health support services.”This is a really big deal for Vermonters. For a long time, we have not had enough mental health options for Vermonters who are in crisis,” said Stephen Leffler, the president and COO of the University of Vermont Medical Center. “The important thing is it adds capacity to this state for mental health care that we have not had. And it really fills a very specific niche that’s been absent for a long time in Vermont.” This will be the first urgent care of its kind in Chittenden County, and it will allow adults with increasing or acute mental health needs to be quickly evaluated and matched with providers.
