Erie Insurance Group chairman to receive Pa. Societys 2024 Gold Medal [Video]

The chairman and former CEO of Erie Insurance Group and the state’s first Department of Community and Economic Development secretary has been selected to receive the 2024 Gold Medal for Distinguished Achievement at this year’s Pennsylvania Society’s annual dinner in December.

Thomas Hagen, a former Society president, has been a business and civic leader for more than 60 years. Along with his leadership role at Erie Insurance, he is also chairman of Custom Engineering Co.

His list of contributions also include serving as a past chairman of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business & Industry and cofounder and past chairman of Team Pennsylvania Foundation, a Harrisburg-based nonprofit that labels itself as a public-private partnership to bolster Pennsylvania’s economic development. Additionally, he is credited for his efforts to aid in the economic development and revitalization of his hometown of Erie.
