Anglers cast their lines to support injured Appleton teen as A Cast For Hope tournament wraps up [Video]

OCONTO, Wis. (WBAY) – More than 100 people this weekend have been participating in a fishing tournament to raise money for an Appleton teenager hurt in a bizarre accident involving a power washer.

15-year-old Brett Jedwabny continues to recover in a Milwaukee hospital and will need more surgeries, according to the organizers of the tournament and a GoFundMe for Brett.

This particular fundraiser is especially fitting, says Brett’s cousin, Cole Schiman.

“From the time he wakes up to the time he goes to bed, he’s always asking to go fishing. It’s probably his biggest passion,” said Schiman.

Brett’s passion for fishing, led to him becoming a member of the Appleton North High School Fishing Team, which has been extremely successful.

Coach Scott Papesh says the entire team was involved in organizing this tournament fundraiser.
