Tolono Fire District hoping to increase funding for new equipment [Video]

TOLONO, Ill. (WCIA) — One proposal in Tolono is looking to take some heat off the fire department. The district is asking for an increase in funding to help bring in much-needed new equipment.

“We’re not asking for the world,” said Tolono Fire Chief Chris Humer. “We’re just asking to be able to keep up.”

The Tolono Fire District has served the community for 30 years through all types of emergencies, and now they are asking for help. Humer said the district’s budget has not been able to keep up with rising costs.

“We really need the community’s support here to help us increase our funding so that we can keep up with the equipment and items that are needed for the members,” Humer said.
