Baton Rouge event aims to raise money for Louisiana chapter of Blue Star Mothers [Video]

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – An event set for Sunday in Baton Rouge called Jeeping for Vets aims to raise money for Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana.

The annual event honors the Louisiana Patriot Guard Riders while raising money for the local Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana Chapter 1 Wreaths Across America program. It is set for noon to 5 p.m. on Sept. 29 at Greenoaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd. in Baton Rouge.

Greenoaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park Community Development Representative Gretchen Varnell said wreaths will be placed on veterans’ graves at the national cemetery.

It’s an event for the entire family. Multiple Jeep groups will be participating in this year’s event, and up to 50 Jeeps will be competing in the Jeep Show. The competiton has four divisions: classic, patriotic, show and shine and best-in-show. Competitive remote control Jeep races will also be available for children ages 5 to 13.
