Local funeral homes hold grief reflection walk [Video]

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – Sunday was a day of reflection at Riverside Park in Wausau. Helke and Brainard funeral homes joined together to hold a grief reflection walk for the community.

The walk gave people the chance to stop and read through notes about how to support yourself and others with the loss of a loved one.

The idea of the walk blossomed last year. This year, Helke and Brainard funeral homes decided to band together once again to see what they could do to help the community understand how to best navigate loss.

“They (the funeral homes) are owned by the same family so Ingrid (Ingrid Benson, Helke and Brainard’s aftercare coordinator) and I kind of brainstormed what might be helpful and we’ve gotten some good feedback on the grief walk,” Mary Jarvis, Brainard’s aftercare coordinator, said.
