Fairfield considers proposal for recreational marijuana sales [Video]

FAIRFIELD, Ohio (WXIX) – The City of Fairfield is beginning to move forward with rules on recreational marijuana sales.

Fairfield was one of several communities in Greater Cincinnati that held out on making rules after Issue 2 passed in Nov. 2023.

Development Services Director Greg Kathman proposed on Monday during a city council meeting to limit one dispensary to Fairfield. His proposal would alter the zoning code to allow a dispensary on State Route 4.

“We thought it was important if we’re going to have one of these, it should be on the main drag,” Kathman said.

The plan would place a dispensary near Jungle Jim’s. Requirements demand it be a standalone building with 100 feet of store frontage on State Route 4. It would have to comply with state and city codes and the State Route 4 corridor overlay. The building would need to be 500 feet from public …
