First Responder Friday: Sheriff TJ Joye [Video]

FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW) — It’s time for another edition of First Responder Friday as News13 honors Grand Strand and Pee Dee first responders.

This week’s nominee is Florence County Sheriff TJ Joye. For the past 38 years, Joye has dedicated his life to serving and protecting the citizens of his community, with no plans to slow down anytime soon.

“I don’t work for applause, I work for a cause,” Joye said.

With a steadfast commitment to honesty, transparency and building trust with the public, Sheriff Joye has navigated the evolving landscape of law enforcement, embracing new technologies and training while upholding the core values that have guided his career.

“It’s not about being the law, it’s about representing the law,” he said. “So many people misconceive that — they think they can do whatever they want, but it’s about serving the public, being honest and transparent in everything you do,”
