Omaha reporter attends Trump Q&A with Black journalists in Chicago [Video]

CHICAGO (WOWT) – Former President Trump addressed the National Association of Black Journalists convention on Wednesday, and 6 News Anchor-Reporter Taylor Johnson was there — the only Omaha journalist in the room during his Q&A at the conference.

Hundreds of NABJ members lined up Wednesday night to hear about Trump’s plans as president, and to hear him address concerns related to the Black community.

The audience was not allowed to ask questions, but there were some signs of support for the former president in the room.

There were contentious moments during the Q&A, including when Trump was asked about his past comments made about Black journalists. He was also asked about his recent comments about granting police officers immunity.

Asked whether he believed Vice President Kamala Harris was a “DEI hire,” Trump said he only knew her racial background as “Indian” until recently, and said he didn’t know she was Black. The Republican former president wrongly claimed that Harris, the first Black woman and Asian American …
