34th anniversary of Americans with Disabilities Act celebrated at Main Street Square [Video]

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – 34 years after the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act, awareness of disabilities and accessibility has grown closer to the hearts of people in South Dakota.

July 26th’s Disability Resource Fair featured 34 different vendors, from Black Hills Advocate to West River Mental Health, the event showed that no matter what someone is struggling with, there is a community to support them.

The event coincided with the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act which made major headway in assuring equality for people of all abilities.

”The Americans with Disabilities Act, which is landmark civil rights legislation, requires, or prohibiting I should say, discrimination based on disability.
