Belfast holds 18th annual Maine Celtic Celebration | News [Video]

BELFAST — One of Belfast’s biggest events of the year returned this weekend. A celebration of music, culture and  community, that’s what you’ll find each year at the Maine Celtic Celebration. 

“Actually the biggest summer event here in Belfast,” said Maine Celtic Celebration board member, Claudia Luchetti. “I myself have not a drop of Celtic blood in my veins but its still fun.” 

For the past 18 years, a group of volunteers has been putting on a festival along the Belfast waterfront that captures the rich heritage of the Celtic Nations. 

“We do it to celebrate the Scotts, Irish heritage of the immigrants to this land,” said Luchetti. 

New this year to the festival is the Celtic Nations Exhibit and a variety of new workshops. Familiar favorites also made a return such as the Heavy Games, Celtic Dog Show and the Cheese Roll Championship that’s modeled by a competition in the United …
