Havertown native nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year Award [Video]

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Havertown native and Haverford High School product Katie Redding has enjoyed an extraordinary field hockey career at the University of Scranton. Her impact on the program has been so great that she was recently named Scranton’s nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

The Woman of the Year honors a senior female athlete who has made an impact in academics, athletics, community service and leadership.

Redding considers herself lucky.

“I definitely have been blessed with a lot of opportunities,” she said. “Growing up in Havertown, field hockey is pretty heavy-based. My parents allowed me to play club, they paid for that, which is kind of where it all started.
