41 Chicago businesses to receive thousands of dollars [Video]

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The city of Chicago has picked 41 local businesses to receive thousands of dollars through the Good Food Fund Grant program.

The program is meant to provide support to food entrepreneurs in South and West Side communities, in the hopes that it will help grow and restore the food industry in those areas. Mayor Brandon Johnson said the goal is to ensure “every Chicagoan has access to fresh, local food.”

The grants are fully funded by the American Rescue Plan Act and range from $10,000 – $100,000.

The selection process was designed after community engagement with the Food Equity Council and Allies for Community Business. The second round of the Good Food Fund Grant launched on Aug. 15. Local businesses may submit applications online by Sept. 13, 2024.
