YouTube Gets a Big Update With Sleep Timer, Miniplayer, AI Replies [Video]

YouTube began rolling out over two dozen changes to its web, mobile, and TV platforms on Tuesday. The updates include some “highly requested features,” says YouTube’s product management director Matthew Darby.

The first major addition is the adjustable miniplayer. While browsing through the Android or iOS app while watching a video, users will see a picture-in-picture window of the current video. They will also be able to resize the window, adjust its position, and use buttons like play or pause, fast forward, and rewind. This is similar to the picture-in-picture window Google Meet rolled out recently for Chrome that lets you view other web browser tabs and see your meeting, minimized, at the same time.
