The Rockland Police Department said they identified “these pair of Grinches” Tuesday.
ROCKLAND, Maine — The Rockland Police Department said it has identified two suspects in an attempted tree-napping incident that occurred Monday night at a local hotel.
Two men were seen on video around 9:30 p.m. appearing to try and steal a Christmas tree from the Trade Winds Motor Inn in Rockland, according to Deputy Chief Alex Gaylor of the Rockland Police Department.
Officers posted a picture of the two suspects and video footage in a whimsical social media post on Tuesday, asking for the public’s help identifying these “Grinches.”
“We don’t know why, and no one quite knows the reason. It could be their head wasn’t screwed on just right? It could be, perhaps their shoes were too tight? Or their heart was two sizes too small?” The post stated.
Gaylor said the suspects have been identified, but no names were being released at this time because criminal charges are still pending.
