Young mother identified in Milwaukee deadly apartment shooting [Video]

The medical examiner’s report identified a woman killed in an apartment shooting the day after Thanksgiving as 20-year-old Vanessa King. King was the mother to a 1-year-old daughter. “Vanessa’s a very sweet, smart, intelligent young lady. She’s very soft-spoken,” said King’s godmother, Leah Davis. “When you speak to her or approach her, she has this infectious smile that instantly greets you.” Davis said King was on her way to work Friday near 7th Street and Galena Street, where she works as an in-home nurse when the incident happened.”There was some type of interaction. I don’t really know how the interaction was, but based on what I’m hearing, she didn’t get an opportunity to clock in to work that day,” Davis said.According to the medical examiner’s report, King was found shot in a stranger’s apartment. Police said the 21-year-old suspected shooter later died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.Investigators haven’t yet shared …
