Young arctic fox found in Portland to move to new home in Wisconsin [Video]

PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) – A young arctic fox that was found wandering in Portland last month will move to a new home in Wisconsin, the Oregon Zoo announced.

The young fox was found in Willamette Park on Saturday and taken to the Wildlife Care Center. The fox was then cared for by the Bird Alliance of Oregon before being taken to the Oregon Zoo on Friday, Nov. 8.

“She’s been very curious and interested in her surroundings,” said Kate Gilmore, who oversees the zoo’s ambassador animal area. “She spent the weekend hopping over logs, foraging for her diet and practicing being a fox! We’re glad we can provide care and enrichment for her until she’s ready for her next chapter.”

The zoo says the fox had been kept as a pet. Because of her upbringing, she would not be able to survive in the wild.

On Thursday, Nov. 14, the fox will be moved to her new home …
