York County Solid Waste Authority kicks off 37th annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program [Video]

The waste management company says it will collect between 300-400 trees after the holidays that will be turned into mulch.

YORK, Pa. — With the holidays coming to an end, families across south-central Pennsylvania will soon be moving their Christmas trees out of their living rooms.

At the York County Resource Recovery Center in Manchester Township, people are encouraged to take the tinsel off the tree and turn it over for recycling.

“We don’t want to see any trees on the side of the road; we want to see them dropped off here,” said Jen Christofoletti, the community services manager for the York County Solid Waste Authority.

On Thursday, the York County Solid Waste Authority kicked off its 37th annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program. The program is free for all York County residents and gives people an eco-friendly option to throw out their old Tanenbaum’s.
