CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – After close to 100 years, the Washington County YMCA has a new indoor pool.
“I was just really impressed when I went in there this morning.” Vanessa Widler said.
Widler has Fibromyalgia and said she’s looking forward to using the pool for aquatic exercises. She said she’s also excited to take her grandchildren to the pool to swim.
“It’s just so overwhelming what it’s going to do to this community. Just having the access during the winter months to have a pool to go to. And the kids and the swim team,” Widler said.
The YMCA relied on donations to raise close to $17 million to build the pool and the rest of the new YMCA building after voters rejected a bond issue to fund the project in 2016.
