Working Iowa: City View high school students get internship experience [Video]

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Students at City View Community High School in Cedar Rapids are getting early career experience.

The school is connecting students with internships for the first time this school year.

Allison Klostermann and Marie Cambridge, both sophomores, are helping lead a class of freshman at City View.

It’s part of the education internship their doing with a teacher.

“It’s something we felt interested into,” said Cambridge.

The Cedar Rapids Community School District opened City View last school year. It’s housed downtown in the same building as the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance.

The school has already helped sophomore Maddox Liechty create his own business.

“I think it’s like really great and like helping us students prepare for the real world,” Liechty said.

Students spend two mornings a week at an internship that aligns with their passions.
