PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – The Wood County Commission released a statement Friday on the status of warming shelters in Wood County.
In the press release sent out Friday afternoon, commissioners met with officials from the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, Wood County Homeland Security/Emergency Management, and the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department’s Community Health and Threat Preparedness Director Malcolm Lanham.
They discussed the availability of community warming centers in Wood County and the misinformation on social media surrounding them.
According to the Commission, no reports have been made of any shelters turning anyone away due to overcrowding.
The MOV Health Department says it’s important for people to be aware of the status of warming shelter locations available in the MOV.
