Wood County Board of Education hears presentation on new school [Video]

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – The Wood County Board of Education met Tuesday to hear an update on the ongoing efforts to design a new North Parkersburg Elementary School.

Representatives from architecture and engineering firm Pickering and Associates appeared before the board to present the most recent designs and information about the school.

The consolidated school will serve students currently attending Emerson and Criss elementaries.

Under the current design, the school is about 55,000 square feet and will serve 504 students in grades K-5.

It will have three classrooms for each grade, with kindergarten through second grade on the first floor and classrooms for third to fifth graders on a smaller second story section of the building.

It will sit on the property currently occupied by Van Devender Middle School and the former Lincoln Elementary, which the district currently uses for storage.
