ROCKLAND, Maine — A woman is facing charges after allegedly stealing a canoe and damaging property late Monday night in Rockland.
At about 10:30 p.m. Monday, police responded to a report about a woman who had reportedly damaged property and stolen a canoe near the Rockland Public Landing, Rockland police said on social media.
Officers located the woman, identified as 30-year-old Sierra McDonald, just offshore in the stolen canoe, according to a Facebook post.
“While speaking to the woman from shore, she entered the water, stripped off all her clothing and boarded a nearby lobster boat, attempting to untie the vessel,” police said in the post.
Based on police observations and the woman’s statements, officers and Rockland Fire & EMS took the woman into protective custody. She was taken to Pen Bay Medical Center …
