Woman dies after attempting to rescue dog from pond in Ashtabula County [Video]

According to officials, family members went looking for Carol Beebe in Pierpont Township after not hearing from her since Friday. Upon checking her property in the 5000 block of Caine Road, they discovered Beebe in the pond. 

In a press release, the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office said, “A review of the surveillance system on the home revealed that one of Beebe’s dogs had fallen through the ice on the pond and Beebe had fallen through the ice while rescuing her dog.” 

Currently, her death is being investigated by the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office. 

Water rescue personnel from Geneva also assisted with the recovery.
