Wiregrass feeling the effects of the Global Outage [Video]

WIREGRASS, Ala. (WDHN)—A mass cyber outage has impacted almost all aspects of life globally, even here in the Wiregrass.

A significant technology outage impacted the entire globe in the early hours of Friday morning.

According to reports–a faulty software update from the Texas-based cybersecurity company ‘Crowdstrike’ impacted all computers running on Microsoft Windows.

This outage has caused issues for tens of thousands of people and companies, including multiple instances surrounding the Wiregrass– including our very own station.

Jordan Ambrose, WDHN Meteorologist, said his systems were on the fritz this morning.

Southeast Health officials revealed in a press release that the outage compromised the hospital’s computer systems.

They say problems began around midnight–after several of the hospital’s systems were disrupted. One is Epic, which provides Southeast Health’s electronic medical records.

Luckily, systems were fully operational after about four hours of being down.
