White House task force offers guide for parents and kids on social media [Video]

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Parents have a new resource with information about keeping kids safe online.

The First Alert Safety Desk has done countless stories about online dangers. Whether it’s bullying or sextortion, kids are often the target.

A report was just released by a White House task force.

Recommendations include open communication between parent and child about social media.

In the U.S., an estimated 95% of teens and 40% of kids ages 8 to 12 use some form of social media. That’s why these conversations are so important.

Parents are encouraged to set up a family media plan that sets expectations with your kids about what they can watch and how long they can be on their devices.
