While some celebrate their schools being removed from ASDs proposed closure list, others face expedited closures [Video]

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) -Some parents are taking a sigh of relief after The Anchorage School District announced that Bear Valley Elementary is among three schools removed from the proposed school closure list.

Bear Valley, Tudor, and Wonder Park Elementary Schools will remain in operation.

With the announcement coming the day before Thanksgiving, Bear Valley mom, Haley Wilkinson says it’s yet another reason to celebrate.

“This is something that all of us parents and the school faculty have worked together to join as a community to get the word out,“ Wilkinson said. “I just wanted to make sure that our voices were heard and they were heard, and we won.”

While these three schools are safe from the chopping block, others are at risk of having to close earlier than expected.
