Nearly three decades ago, the Omaha World-Herald ran an article headlined, “What does Omaha want to be?”
For the piece The World-Herald asked 15 city residents, including a student, an artist, business leaders and other workers in the city, about their visions for the future of the largest city in Nebraska.
Now, with city elections for mayor and city council this spring, The World-Herald is asking those questions again.
What do you want for the future of the city? What are you looking forward to in city development? What key elements of a thriving city does Omaha lack? How should the city grapple with transportation woes, racial injustice, housing shortages and business growth? Are city taxes too high or should the city raise taxes to invest more in public goods?
