As a kid, Wendy was always drawn to math and science, the core subjects that laid the foundation for her love of meteorology. But her career didn’t follow a typical route. Before becoming a meteorologist, she spent years working in radio, teaching science in public schools, and as a public relations/sales specialist, skills that have proven invaluable in her current role at FOX13.

She often gets asked if her time as a radio DJ helped shape her meteorology career, and the answer is an emphatic yes. “Meteorologists don’t use TelePrompters; we’re ad-libbing on the fly, something I’m very comfortable with thanks to my radio experience. That confidence helps me deliver forecasts clearly, especially when it comes to severe weather, where the stakes are incredibly high. We are often the first line of defense in alerting communities to dangerous weather events, and I take that responsibility seriously.”
