‘Weird and Scenic’: Craters of the Moon Centennial Celebration [Video]

In the final month of the park’s celebration people can experience the theme of an “Expansive Night Sky.”

ARCO, Idaho — According to Crater of the moon’s website, the park was established by President Calvin Coolidge in 1942. In his proclamation he said the park is “a weird and scenic landscape peculiar to itself.” Beyond the scenery, this month people can go to events and activities centered around the theme of the “Expansive Night Sky.”

“A visit to Craters of the Moon is an experience like no other,” said Kristi Baughman, consultant for Yellowstone Teton Territory—the area’s destination marketing organization. “Fall is the perfect time to make nearby Idaho Falls as your base camp for exploring the park, experiencing the brilliant fall foliage and then sitting down for a delicious meal and a cozy night’s stay at the impressive array of restaurant and lodging options in eastern Idaho’s largest city.”
