Weather-related death toll rises to 4 in East Tennessee [Video]

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – UPDATE: The death toll in East Tennessee is now four after two more deaths were reported in Cocke County.

Cocke County Mayor Rob Mathis confirmed two were killed in the flooding in a press conference Sunday evening.

The other two “weather-related” deaths were out of Johnson and Unicoi Counties.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, more than 150 people are unaccounted for across several counties in East Tennessee.

Washington County: 62

Unicoi County: 47

Johnson County: 4

Surrounding counties: 40

The TBI said authorities believe many are safe but unable to identify themselves due to limited cell service and infrastructure damage.

A hotline has been setup to coordinate reports of missing persons in the affected areas.
