Weather alert issued for strong thunderstorms in Baldwin County Sunday evening [Video]

The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 6:56 p.m. on Sunday for strong thunderstorms until 7:30 p.m. for Baldwin County.

Residents can anticipate wind gusts of up to 40 mph.

“At 6:56 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm 10 miles west of McCullough, or 17 miles northwest of Atmore, moving south at 10 mph,” according to the weather service. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.”

According to the weather service, “If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.”
