MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Memphis is a basketball city so there is no better place to host the inaugural St. Jude Tip-Off Classic.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in partnership with the University of Memphis Basketball Teams welcomes North Carolina on the men’s side and South Carolina on the women’s side for a preseason exhibition game all benefiting the St. Jude mission of finding cures and saving lives.
“You know we have been wanting to do this for some time now,” Chris Boysen said.
Boysen is the Senior VP of Field Development for ALSAC and said next year they hope to make this an in-season event.
“Yeah, the whole idea of this is to do a classic style format or even a multi-team event like the Maui Invitational or the Battle of Atlantis and we want to host it here in Memphis, Tennessee,” Boysen said.
