While much of the focus Tuesday was on statewide election races, the many initiative petitions and major county races, there were plenty of elections of consequence in smaller Lancaster County communities.
Waverly, the largest city in the county outside of Lincoln, chose a new mayor Tuesday night.
Abbey Pascoe, the Waverly City Council president who ran unopposed, is the city’s new leader.
“I am deeply honored by the confidence the people of Waverly have placed in me,” Pascoe said in a news release. “I look forward to serving each and every resident with transparency, candor and a steadfast commitment to collaboration. Together, we can build a community that is safe, thriving and full of opportunity.”
Pascoe, who will be the city’s second female mayor, said her main goals are fostering economic growth and ensuring public safety remains a top priority.
