MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) -Chances are you’ve seen this latest scam making the rounds on social media sites. It’s happening more and more.
Spammers are using fake comments on Facebook pages with links to videos that might look legit, only they are anything but. These are comments that are usually attached to real news articles, or posts from an account you follow.
The comment reads, “BREAKING, police release video of the incident, “ or “JUST IN, body cam video related to the arrest released.” The link has a picture too, warning that the material might be graphic.
The thing is, these comments are most likely coming from bogus accounts most likely created by bots.
Spammers rely on people to take the bait and click on these links that are solely designed to install malicious software and gain access to your account.
