Former President Donald Trump may have scored a Greg Gutfeld booking, but Vice President Kamala Harris secured an Oprah Winfrey sit-down. The Democratic candidate for president appeared alongside the TV icon as part of a Unite for America rally in Michigan that streamed live on Thursday.

Some of Winfrey’s famous friends were part of the event as well, including Chris Rock, Jennifer Lopez and Meryl Streep. But the main focus was on ordinary voters, some of whom had the chance to ask Harris their questions directly.

But before turning it over to the audience in the room and virtually, Winfrey had her own questions for the candidate, starting how she stepped into the election cycle with such confidence after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race.

“I felt a sense of responsibility,” Harris replied. “And with that comes a sense of purpose.”
