MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) – Public transportation in Marietta transitions to a new model this week.
As of Monday, Marietta residents can use a new on-demand public transit system.
It’s replacing the fixed-route system previously used by Washington-Morgan Community Action Bus Lines.
Under the new system, people can schedule a ride on the day of or up to two weeks in advance via a phone call to (740) 373-7671 or by using the Rider Portal mobile app.
Community Action Director of Transportation Steve Collins said despite some small growing pains and organizational hiccups in the first week of on demand transit, the transition has gone smoothly.
He said be believes the flexibility of the on-demand system is attracting new riders who weren’t bus riders previously.
