MARIETTA, OHIO (WTAP) – Today in Washington County, the Southeastern Ohio Joint Solid Waste Authority Management District held their annual Computer & TV Collection Day.
The event is a drive-thru event where Washington County residents drop unwanted, unused or broken electronics.
This event has been going on for years and it has continued to be especially important to residents because of their inability to dispose of these products year-round.
“We put on an electronics collection with computer and TV collection every year due to the fact that you cannot get rid of these items in your household waste because they cannot accept them. So, the district puts this on free of cost to all the citizens and residents of the six-county district,” said District Coordinator Mike Reiter.
Last year in just Washington County Reiter says they collected between 50,000-70,000 pounds of electronics.
