The sheriff’s office says the man was found unconscious on the shoulder of I-75 while suffering from cuts to his head. They say he would later die at the hospital.
MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — A Warner Robins man died after being found unconscious on the shoulder of I-75 South in Monroe County over the weekend, according to a press release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Darryl Thompson was found in the early hours of Saturday morning near mile marker 180 on the side of I-75 South, the press release said.
They say deputies were dispatched at around 2 a.m. on Saturday. When they arrived, they found Thompson alive, but he would later die after being transported to a Macon hospital, the sheriff’s office said.
They say Thompson’s death is under investigation and his next of kin has been notified.
