Walk for Animals raises hundreds of thousands of dollars [Video]

Last year, dogs couldn’t attend because of the canine flu.

SAINT PAUL, Minn — Thousands of people came out with their furry loved ones to raise money for the Animal Humane Society.

Saturday marked the 53rd Walk for Animals at the Minnesota State Fair Grounds, the nonprofits’ largest fundraiser of the year.

The dogs were back this year too, after last year officials banned dogs in an effort to limit the spread of canine flu.

“We did see a lot of critters, a lot of cats, but no dogs,” said Brittany Baumann, public relations strategist with the Animal Humane Society. “So this year, the dogs are back and we’re thrilled to see the dogs and all the dog owners returning to walk this year.”

Fittingly before the walk started, it was raining cats and dogs.
