This group will join the six members already in Florida helping communities brace for what’s expected to be a serious weather event.
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Virginia Task Force 2 (VA-TF2) headed to Orlando, Florida on Monday to help communities ahead of Hurricane Milton making landfall late Wednesday along Florida’s Gulf Coast.
The group of 17 will join the six members already on the ground.
Around noon on Monday, weather models showed that Hurricane Milton strengthened to a Category 5 storm and is expected to travel through the Gulf of Mexico toward Tampa and Orlando, Florida.
This storm is predicted to potentially impact the same, or nearby, Sunshine State communities devastated by Hurricane Helene less than two weeks ago.
